Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Authority. Please read them. If anything's unclear, email support@useauthority.live before you sign up.
1. Who we are
Authority is sold by DRAFT: seller's legal name, trading as Authority, DRAFT: address line 1, DRAFT: town, postcode, United Kingdom. "We" and "us" means that seller. "You" means the business that opens the account.
Authority is webinar software. You use it to make sign-up pages, run live webinars from your browser, play recordings as if they were live at set times, send reminders, run chat, questions, polls and offers in the room, keep replays, and see who signed up, who came and how long they stayed.
2. Business use only
Authority is for businesses, not for personal use. By opening an account you confirm you're at least 18 and acting for a business, and that you can agree to these terms for it.
3. Your account and your team
- Give us true details and keep them up to date. Keep your password to yourself.
- You must confirm your email address before you can go live or invite anyone.
- You're responsible for everything done under your account, including by people you add to your team.
- Seats. Each seat is one business's own space: its webinars, sign-ups, team and settings, kept apart from every other seat. If you're an agency running seats for your clients, you're our customer, not them. You're responsible for having the right agreement with each client, and for what they do in their seat.
- Our support team may open your account to help you when you ask. Each time we do, it's logged and you can see it on your Account page.
4. The free trial
Every account starts with a free trial. We don't ask for a card. The trial has limits, and we show you them before you start. When the trial ends, your account becomes read-only until you choose a plan. Nothing is deleted.
5. Plans and paying
- Plans are paid monthly or yearly, in advance, by card through our payment provider, Stripe. You see the price of the plan you choose before you pay, in US dollars, and they don't include VAT or sales tax. We add tax where the law says we must.
- Your plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. We email you 3 days before a monthly renewal and 7 days before a yearly one.
- Before you pay, the Billing page shows the full billing terms next to a tick box: the price, when it renews, and how to cancel.
- Upgrades start straight away. You pay the difference for the rest of the current period that day.
- Downgrades start at your next renewal. If you have more seats open than the new plan allows, you pick which to pause, or we pause the newest. A paused seat keeps its data and reopens if you upgrade again.
- Extra seats can be added on the Clients page at the price shown there. You pay for the rest of the current period on the day.
- Your card statement shows AUTHORITY.
- We can change our prices. We'll email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, and it only applies from your next renewal.
6. Watching hours and going over
A watching hour is one person watching for one hour, live or replay. Each plan includes a number each month. We email you at 80% and at 100%. Nothing stops if you go over: the extra hours go on your next normal invoice as one line, at the rate shown for the plan you choose. We never charge your card separately for them.
7. If a payment fails
- Days 1 to 7: everything works. You'll see a banner and get emails.
- Days 8 to 14: read-only. No new webinars and no going live. Webinars already set to start by themselves still run, and sign-up pages still take people.
- Day 15 on: paused. Sign-up pages stop taking people and nothing sends. Your data is kept.
- Paying at any point turns everything back on at once. We never pause a webinar while it's live.
8. Cancelling and refunds
Cancel any time from your Billing page. You won't be charged again, and everything keeps working until the end of what you've paid for. You can undo it before then. Monthly plans aren't refunded; an annual plan cancelled within 30 days of paying is refunded for the months not used. If a renewal slipped your mind, email us within 7 days of it and we'll refund it. Full details: Refunds and cancelling.
9. Closing your account
The account owner can close the account from the Account page. Every seat closes and everyone is signed out. For 30 days you can reopen it exactly as it was, from the link we email you. We email you again 7 days before the end. After 30 days we delete your data for good, including from our servers (backups roll off shortly after; see the privacy policy). Before you close, use Account → Download everything to take a copy.
10. Your content and your attendees
- You own what you put into Authority: videos, recordings, slides, pages, emails, and the details of the people who sign up to your webinars. You let us store, copy and process it only to run Authority for you.
- For your attendees' personal data, you're the controller and we're your processor. Our data processing agreement is part of these terms.
- You must have the right to collect and use that data, tell your attendees how you use it (each sign-up page has a place for your own privacy and terms links and consent boxes), and get any consent the law needs, for example before sending marketing emails or texts.
- If you record a webinar, you must tell the people in it, and get their agreement where the law needs it, before they appear on camera or speak.
- You must have the rights to everything you show or play, including music and video.
11. Honest marketing
You must follow our acceptable use policy. In short: don't mislead the people you sell to. That includes fake attendee numbers, made-up chat or comments passed off as real people, countdowns or "spots left" that aren't true, fake testimonials and income claims you can't back up. Laws such as the UK's Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 and the US FTC Act make these unlawful. You're responsible for how you use every setting in Authority.
12. AI features
Some features use AI: sorting and flagging chat and questions, notes and scores on leads, and the design assistant. To do that, the text involved is sent to our AI provider (see the privacy policy). AI can be wrong. Check its output before you rely on it, and don't make decisions about people based on it alone. Each plan has an AI allowance. When it's used up, the AI features pause until the next month.
13. Services you connect
You can connect other services, such as your CRM, your own Stripe account for your offers, YouTube, a calendar or a text provider. Their own terms apply between you and them. We send data to them only when you set it up, and we're not responsible for what they do with it.
14. What we promise, and what we don't
- We'll run Authority with reasonable care and skill, and keep it secure.
- We don't promise it will never go down. We avoid updates while any webinar is live, but we can't rule out faults.
- Rooms hold up to the number your plan shows. Today that's at most 300 people, the most we've tested ourselves. Features we list as "coming" aren't part of what you're buying until they're live.
- We improve Authority all the time, so features may change. We won't remove a main feature you pay for without telling you first.
- Support is by email at support@useauthority.live, on UK working days.
15. When we can suspend or close an account
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the acceptable use policy, doesn't pay, puts other customers or our service at risk, or where the law needs us to. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it, and we'll give you a way to download your data.
16. Our liability
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't let us limit.
- We're not liable for lost profits, lost sales, lost business or lost goodwill, or for any indirect loss.
- Otherwise, our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- You'll cover our reasonable costs if someone makes a claim against us because of your content, your marketing, or how you used your attendees' data.
17. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll email the account owner and show the new version the next time you sign in. We record which version you accepted and when. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change applies.
18. The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute. If you're a consumer elsewhere, you keep any rights your own country's law gives you.
